2022 Annual Report

Download NMCT's 2022 Annual Report here.  Grants totaling over £3.7m have been awarded since NMCT’s foundation towards projects with a total cost of over £7.3m, enabling the conservation of many thousands of nationally and internationally significant manuscripts and collections that would otherwise have been lost or remained inaccessible due to their fragility.

The manuscripts and collections being conserved thank to grants awarded in 2022 include:

  • Demotic Papyrus 9 (c513BCE). John Rylands Library;
  • The Burges's designs for Cardiff Castle. Glamorgan Archives;
  • William Laud's copy of the Book of Common Prayer (1632). Christ Church, Oxford;
  • 20th century records from the Risca North colliery in South Wales. Gwent Archives;
  • Important collections of building plans.  Bristol Archives and Nottinghamshire Archives;
  • The archive of William Buckland Archive (1784-1856). Oxford University Museum of Natural History;
  • Brontë manuscripts from the Blavatnik Honresfield Library. Brontë Parsonage Museum;
  • The first volume of the Records of the Burgh of Lanark 1488-1576. Lanark Library.

You can also read about the long-term benefit of NMCT's funding, with several case studies about collections that were conserved in the past thanks to NMCT.

We welcome applications for funding: our next deadline is 2nd October 2023, and you can find the application form and guidance notes here.
