The NMCT helps preserve important manuscript and archive collections by awarding grants for their conservation.

Since the NMCT was founded in 1990 it has awarded grants of over £3.7m which have enabled the conservation of thousands of historical, literary, scientific, architectural and other vital documents that would otherwise have been lost or faced an uncertain future.

We welcome applications from non-national archives and record offices, as well as specialist libraries, universities and museums. We have two grant deadlines each year, April 1st and October 1st - you can find out how to apply and can download application forms from this website.
The case studies of past grants give a good idea of the sorts of projects that we support and you can download a list of all grants since 2010 to get the complete picture.
Please do feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss a potential application.
